Inside the Bag: Celestial Seasonings Tea - Chai

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

It’s time to go inside the bag. Today, I’d like to review a Honey Vanilla White Tea by Celestial Seasonings. I like to have “Chai” as a healthy dessert beverage. Hence today’s blog regarding honey vanilla white tea.

Celestial Seasonings - ChaiFirst off, If you enjoy honey or vanilla and you are interested in tea, this is a great choice. Celestial Seasonings has a long history in the tea business. They deserve an award for their box decorations and product information. There is literally a picture, almost cartoon like, and/or product information on every side of the box. Their product packaging shows their attention to detail. Inside the box, you’ll find the tea bags covered in a wax paper bag to keep the individual tea bags fresh. The tea bags are connected and pull apart with ease. The bags do not come with the usual “dipping” string attached to the bag. It’s just the bag – no strings attached. The Chai smells like a coffee/tea shop. If you enjoy the sweet smell of vanilla and honey, this is sure to be a hit with you. The main ingredients: white tea, black tea, roasted chicory, cinnamon, natural honey, vanilla flavors, ginger, cloves, cardamom, black pepper, nutmeg, and honey. The honey and vanilla dominate the scent of the box. However, the additional spices are revealed in the taste. This Chai does live up to its spiced nature. The tea blend is flavorful, and it will tickle your taste buds. It’s recommended you steep the tea 4-6 minutes in 3/4 of a cup of boiling water. For a traditional Chai experience add 1/4 cup of milk and sweeten to your satisfaction.

This tea is an all out good time. The white tea cannot be tasted over the vanilla, honey and other East Indian spices. However, the box is sure to remind us of the antioxidants found in the white and black tea. If you are looking for a Chai in your local grocery store, this is an excellent choice. If you are looking to try a white tea, please don’t confuse this with a premium white tea.
