The REPUBLIC of TEA: Pomegranate Vanilla Rooibos

Pomegranate Vanilla Rooibos

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, first I’d like to wish my Mom a happy Mother’s Day.  In addition, I’d like to wish my wife a happy Mother’s Day.  I’ve been blessed to have a great mom and a wife that is an incredible mother.  Today, I’m drinking a Rooibos “red tea” that is part of The REPUBLIC of TEA’s Sip for the Cure product line: From The REPUBLIC of TEA:A portion of sales from this tea will support Susan G. Komen for the Cure in their fight against breast cancer.”

The Pomegranate Vanilla flavored Rooibos was very flavorful.  The tart and tangy pomegranate aromas rise from the steam in the cup.  The flavor is very well balanced.  The vanilla mellows the tart pomegranate and helps give it more of a sweet flavor.  The Rooibos supports the flavor with its smooth, dark, and naturally sweet flavor.   Combined, the ingredients mix to make a relaxing and pleasing naturally decaffeinated beverage.  I’m a true tea lover, but I can see why many people are enjoying Rooibos.  The South African shrub seems to support a wide-range of flavors.  If you enjoy flavored teas, Rooibos might be a good alternative for you if you are looking for a naturally caffeine-free beverage.  Also, Rooibos is easy to prepare in a standard tea bag.

Happy Mother’s Day,

The REPUBLIC of TEA: British Breakfast

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

The term “breakfast tea” always bothers me for some reason, but I don’t see the name changing any time soon.  Tea can be consumed at any time of the day.  Breakfast blends are obviously excellent compliments to your morning meal, but don’t let the name stop you from enjoying it after-hours.  It does contain caffeine, but it’s a much smaller amount than a cup of coffee. Breakfast blends are usually the consolidation of strong black teas from around the globe that combine to create a full-bodied, bold cup of black tea.  This blend combines teas from: China, India, Ceylon and Kenya.  The tea itself was very smooth in flavor.  I enjoyed the fresh scent rising from the cup. Overall I felt the tea did offer enough flavor for me to recommend to tea drinkers looking for a good mix of popular & authentic black tea flavors.  This particular blend came in one of The REPUBLIC of TEA’s round tea bags.  It’s also important that I note that this tea is Certified Kosher.

The REPUBLIC of TEA gives this interesting fact: “This blend is our version of the popular blend called “English Breakfast” which is a name tea marketers created to describe Britain’s popular morning blend. Usually this blend has a substantial amount of China teas as opposed to “Irish Breakfast” which has dominance of India teas.”

If you like English Breakfast teas (traditional tea bag), you might want to give this one a shot.

Strawberry Vanilla Little Citizens’ Herb Tea

Educating the world’s children sip by sip.

There are very few things as important as our children’s education.  For millions of children worldwide, a quality education is a distant to unknown dream.  The REPUBLIC of TEA and Room to Read have joined forces to help promote children’s learning through the sales of The REPUBLIC OF TEA’s Little Citizens’ Herb Tea ($1 from each sale of this herbal tea will support Room to Read).  As a father of two daughters, I’m proud to spread the word about the partnership to help those that are less fortunate than many of us.

Mission of Room to Read: “We partner with local communities throughout the developing world to provide quality educational opportunities by establishing libraries, creating local language children’s literature, constructing schools, and providing education to girls. We seek to intervene early in the lives of children in the belief that education empowers people to improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries and future generations. Through the opportunities that only education can provide, we strive to break the cycle of poverty, one child at a time.”

Today I made Strawberry Vanilla Little Citizens’ Herb Tea for my entire family.  The organic and fair trade certified Rooibos was perfect for the kids because it is naturally decaffinated. After drinking a couple of small cups, they still went to bed at their normal time.  The strawberry and vanilla flavors were very well balanced with the Rooibos.  The beverage was naturally sweet and flavorful enough to keep their attention.  The Strawberry Vanilla flavor was the perfect choice for my family since everyone really likes strawberries.  Give it a try, and help support the vision of the program by enjoying an excellent family-friendly herbal tea.

The REPUBLIC of TEA: a green and black RTD

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

I’ve done a few blogs about The REPUBLIC of TEA’s ready-to-drink beverages.  I’m very impressed with their attention to detail. The curvy bottles are not only stylish, they contain a beverage that is fresh, flavorful, and refreshing.  The glass bottled teas make excellent gifts. I think they’re great to serve during a formal dinner with family or friends.  It’s a premium product.  In my stocking this past Christmas, I found my first plastic bottled RTD tea from The REPUBLIC of TEA.  It’s smaller than the glass bottles.  The glass bottles contain 16.9 oz, and the plastic bottles contain 12 oz. If you’re watching calories, you’re in luck. These beverages are totally unsweetened.

The Raspberry Quince was a flavor that I didn’t personally pick-out. So I wasn’t sure I would like it as much as the other teas. When I opened the bottle, I could smell the natural sweetness coming from the fruit and tea combination. The water that is used for this tea is so pure. The raspberry flavor was subtle yet present in every drink. The black tea flavor balanced the beverage. The black tea had a classic Ceylon flavor to it. I really couldn’t detect the quince flavor and to be honest I haven’t had many foods or beverages flavored with quince. The Raspberry Quince was just another excellent selection offered by The REPUBLIC of TEA.

Moving on to the Acai Green Tea…The aroma of the acai hits you immediately. The berry flavor was both sweet and slightly bitter. Acai reminds me of a mix between a blueberry and a grape. The color of the green tea was a bright red-violet. Although I found this beverage to be refreshing, it did lack a tea identity. I could not detect the green tea. The berry flavor was welcomed, but I was looking forward to at least a hint of green tea.

It’s amazing how these beverages taste so good without any sweetener. The beverages may not be as authentic as a homemade iced tea made from loose leaf tea, but the beverage certainly has its place in the RTD market. The premium product demands attention and delivers with its quality.

The REPUBLIC of TEA: Comfort and Joy

Happy Holidays!  A holiday blend from The REPUBLIC of TEA…this is a flavorful mix.  It contains: black tea, cinnamon, natural flavors, cloves, licorice root and apple pieces. I’m drinking one of The REPUBLIC of TEA’s round, unbleached tea bags without the strings.  I place the bag in a cup of boiling water for about 3 minutes and scoop-it-out when the tea is finished brewing.  The apple pieces and licorice root flavors make the tea a special treat.  The black tea flavor is not the greatest, but as a whole the beverage will have the average tea consumer smiling.  It has some of the same ingredients as ‘Chai’, but the apple pieces create a sweet apple flavor that gives the tea its character. This is an average tea with an above average mix of flavors.  It’s perfect during the winter months.

The REPUBLIC of TEA: Tea for Wisdom

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

The REPUBLIC of TEAI’m sitting here enjoying a 500mL bottle of The REPUBLIC of TEA’s Blackberry Sage iced tea.  It is such a crisp and relaxing beverage.  The unsweetened tea pops with a delicious ripe blackberry flavor and scent.  The iced tea is very smooth and pure.  I find the blackberry flavor to be very polite.  In other words, the flavors in the bottle are not offensive and overpowering.  I’ve never been able to detect the sage flavor in this bottle, but personally I’m satisfied with the black tea and blackberry pairing.  As I’ve mentioned in the past, The REPUBLIC of TEA’s glass bottled teas are meant to impress.  If you are a blackberry flavored tea drinker, this is a must try.  Buy a couple of bottles and serve them with a nice meal.

The REPUBLIC of TEA describes the tea as:

Food Pairings: Gourmet Pizza, poultry, soups

Desserts: Sorbets, pies

Taste: Ripe blackberry flavor and aroma

Body: full

The REPUBLIC of TEA: Metabolic frolic tea

The REPUBLIC of TEAEarlier this year I was pleasantly surprised by the crisp, smooth, delicate flavors of The REPUBLIC of TEA’s glass bottled iced teas.  I’ve been craving one ever since I finished my last bottle.  At the moment, I’m drinking the Mango Ceylon glass bottled iced tea.  It is absolutely delightful.  There is such a purity about this tea.  The tea is unsweetened, yet it is so flavorful.  The base Ceylon tea is just so smooth and refreshing.  As your mouth is cooled and refreshed there is a release of tropical fruit that coats the palate and excites your taste buds.  The fruit flavor is very light and well-defined.  The mango flavor is perfectly balanced to the tea.  Again, this is not a beverage loaded with sugar.  The bottle itself is a work of art.  I’d highly recommend serving this tea as a compliment to a luxurious dinner.  If you like to have a special meal from time-to-time or you want to impress your guests with a high-quality tea beverage – this is it.

Mango Ceylon is brewed from Organic black tea, mangoes and natural flavors.  I have two more flavors to try, and I cannot wait.  The water they use for this beverage seems so pure.  You know you are drinking a quality product when you actually percieve/detect fresh and pure water.

The REPUBLIC of Tea: Glass bottled iced teas

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

I’ve been waiting for a long-time to start drinking REPUBLIC’s glass bottled iced teas.  A while back my wife went to purchase some for me, but the site noted a fire at their bottling location was preventing them from shipping the tea.  I’m glad they’re back-up and operating.  I ordered 4 bottles with free shipping.
